Nigeria: Five soldiers killed in jihadist ambush

Five Nigerian soldiers were killed and 13 others wounded during a jihadist ambush in Yobe State, northeastern Nigeria. The attack targeted a military convoy using landmines on a road near the village of Bulambugurna.

The ambush was carried out by the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), a splinter group of Boko Haram. This incident follows a trend of increasing violence in the region over the last two years, characterized by attacks on military installations and the seizure of weapons and equipment.

Northeastern Nigeria has been the site of a jihadist insurgency since 2009, which has caused a significant humanitarian crisis and displaced hundreds of thousands of people.
