Nigeria focuses on digital economy and startup empowerment

Nigeria is intensifying efforts to bolster its digital economy through infrastructure development and strategic policy discussions. Senator Oluremi Tinubu, through her Renewed Hope Initiative, has partnered with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) to establish a $10.4 million Renewed Hope Startup Hub in Abuja. This initiative includes the creation of community Information and Communication Technology centres designed to promote digital inclusion for women, girls, and underserved communities.

At the Moonshot by TechCabal 2026 conference, industry experts emphasized that the nation's technological growth depends on solving real-world problems and improving access to capital. Discussions highlighted the importance of developing artificial intelligence that delivers measurable social benefits, strengthening startup financing pathways, and removing barriers to global market participation. Leaders also noted the need for entrepreneurs to engage with regulators, particularly regarding digital assets and cross-border financial services.
