Nigeria Government Partners with Dangote Cement to Boost Affordable Housing

The Federal Government of Nigeria reaffirmed its partnership with Dangote Cement Plc and other industry stakeholders to address the country's housing deficit. The announcement was made at the 2026 Abuja International Housing Show (AIHS), which highlighted the theme “Housing Solutions for Low‑Income and Informal Workers in Africa.”

Minister of Housing and Urban Development Dr. Muttaka Rabe Darma said the collaboration will expand access to affordable homes for low‑income and informal‑sector workers. Aliko Dangote, president of Dangote Industries, was praised for his role in Africa’s industrialisation and for supporting sustainable growth. Participants identified key barriers such as high land costs, expensive building materials, limited mortgage financing, and weak rental systems, and suggested innovative financing models like micro‑mortgages and rent‑to‑own schemes.

Dangote Cement showcased new products and solutions designed to lower construction costs and improve building standards, positioning the company as a principal sponsor of the AIHS’s 20th edition.
