Nigeria hands over rent-to-own houses to beneficiaries in Nasarawa

The Nigerian Federal Government has handed over 129 completed housing units to beneficiaries at the Nasarawa Technology Village in Karu, Nasarawa State. The initiative is part of the ‘Renewed Hope Housing Agenda’ led by President Bola Tinubu, aimed at addressing the nation's housing deficit by providing affordable homeownership opportunities.

The project was funded by the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) and developed by Modern Shelter Systems and Services Ltd through a public-private partnership with the Nasarawa State Government. Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Muttaqha Darma, stated that the administration is committed to providing 100,000 houses before the end of the President’s first term.

Darma noted that an additional 122 beneficiaries are expected to receive their keys by December 2026, which would bring the total number of units for this specific group to 251. The Minister emphasized that the government will continue to utilize the Federal Housing Authority and the FMBN to expand access to decent housing across the country.
