Nigeria health-tech startups deploy 3D printing and digital record platforms
Nigerian health-tech startups are deploying digital and manufacturing technologies to address gaps in the regional healthcare system.
Dynalimb Technologies is utilizing 3D printing and digital tools to provide prosthetic, orthotic, and rehabilitation services. By using 3D manufacturing, the company aims to reduce the cost and production time of mobility devices. According to co-founder Blessing Akinsanya Aniefiok, traditional prosthetic devices in Nigeria can cost over N1.6 million and take up to six weeks to produce, whereas Dynalimb’s devices average N800,000 and can be delivered in approximately seven days. The company has served over 1,000 patients and is developing the DynaX digital platform to connect assessment, design, and follow-up care.
Simultaneously, Medbankr has launched a digital platform designed to centralize patient-controlled medical records. The service features an encrypted ‘Health Vault’ where users can store laboratory results, prescriptions, and scans, deciding which providers can access the data. The platform aims to solve the issue of fragmented medical information across various clinics and paper records. Medbankr also includes AI-assisted features for symptom guidance, medication reminders, and vital-sign tracking to support healthcare continuity.
