Nigeria House Committee dismisses petition against NNPC EVP
The House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream) has dismissed a petition against Dr. Mumuni Dagazu, the Executive Vice President (Downstream) of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL). The petition, filed by the Coalition for Transparency and Accountability in Nigeria’s Petroleum Sector, alleged money laundering, abuse of office, and conflicts of interest.
Committee Chairman Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere stated that the dismissal followed the petitioners' failure to provide substantive evidence. While the sub-committee granted the group opportunities to present valid documentation, they reportedly only provided newspaper clippings and failed to return for subsequent scheduled hearings. In contrast, Dagazu’s representatives appeared before the committee and addressed all inquiries.
Additionally, the committee announced a 14-day extension for a separate sub-committee investigation into NIPCO PLC regarding oil licensing issues.
