Nigeria House of Representatives backs blockchain curriculum review

The Nigerian House of Representatives has endorsed the review of the National Blockchain Education Programme curriculum. The initiative aims to equip citizens with practical skills, cybersecurity knowledge, and regulatory compliance training to better participate in the emerging digital economy.

Hon. Richard Bamisile, Chairman of the House Committee on Delegated Legislation, announced the support during a curriculum review meeting in Abuja. The meeting was organized by the Blockchain Adoption Initiative in partnership with the African University of Science and Technology, Baze University, and Nile University of Nigeria.

Bamisile noted that blockchain technology offers diverse applications beyond cryptocurrency, including agriculture, supply-chain management, digital identity, financial services, and secure record-keeping. He emphasized that promoting blockchain education was a key recommendation from his work on the ad hoc committee regarding the economic and security implications of cryptocurrency and Point-of-Sale operations.
