Abuja Police arrest NSCDC officer for market shooting

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has arrested Onoja Samuel, a Deputy Superintendent of Corps with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), for allegedly firing gunshots at Kubwa Market in Abuja.

According to police reports, the incident occurred after Samuel arrived at the market armed with a pistol following allegations that traders had assaulted his wife. During a confrontation with the traders, Samuel reportedly fired several shots into the air. Officers responding to a distress call disarmed the suspect and recovered a CZ pistol along with 17 rounds of 9mm live ammunition.

FCT Commissioner of Police Ahmed Mohammed Sanusi stated that Samuel remains in custody and will face court charges once investigations are concluded. Sanusi also urged personnel from various security agencies to exercise restraint and coordinate with local police divisions to prevent similar public confrontations.
