Nigeria implements disability inclusion training in Oyo and Lagos

In Nigeria, recent initiatives have focused on enhancing inclusion and rights for persons with disabilities through specialized training programs in Oyo and Lagos states.

In Oyo State, the Centre for Citizens with Disabilities (CCD) conducted a workshop for security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Immigration Service. The training aimed to improve disability-inclusive service delivery and protect the civic rights of persons with disabilities. Organizers emphasized the need for security sector reforms that transition from merely controlling civic space to actively protecting the participation of persons with disabilities.

In Lagos State, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) provided digital citizenship training to over 100 persons with disabilities. The program covered essential topics such as cybersecurity, data protection, assistive technologies, and digital communication. The initiative seeks to ensure that disability does not prevent citizens from participating in the digital economy and provides tools for personal data safety and independence.
