Nigeria inaugurates committee for Marine and Blue Economy Expo
Nigeria’s Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Dr. Adegboyega Oyetola, has inaugurated a committee to organize the Nigeria Marine and Blue Economy Expo (NIMBEX). The initiative aims to position the country as a primary African destination for maritime investment, innovation, and trade.
The expo is designed to connect policymakers, international investors, and industry leaders to unlock the economic potential of Nigeria’s maritime resources. The government seeks to use the event to drive economic diversification, stimulate innovation, and create sustainable employment.
Nigeria possesses an 853-kilometre coastline and over 10,000 kilometres of navigable inland waterways across 28 states. The NIMBEX Organizing Committee is chaired by Husseini Shettima, Director of Marine Conservation, Innovation, and Technology, with Hajia Kalthum Ibrahim and Professor Busayo Fakinlede serving as co-chairpersons.
