Nigeria joins Olympic stakeholders for LA28 pre-Games meeting

Nigeria has commenced early preparations for the 2028 Summer Olympic Games by participating in a pre-Games meeting in Los Angeles, United States. The country was represented by Bukola Olopade, Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), and Engr. Habu Gumel, President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC).

The meeting served as a platform for participating nations and Olympic stakeholders to engage with organizers and exchange vital information regarding the event, which is scheduled to take place from July 14 to 30, 2028.

Olopade emphasized that successful Olympic campaigns require deliberate planning and strong institutional coordination well before athletes arrive at competition venues. She stated that Nigeria’s involvement reflects a determination to approach the Los Angeles Games with a focus on athlete performance, aiming to build on previous experiences to provide athletes with necessary support and facilities.
