Nigeria Judo Federation caretaker committee appointed ahead of elections

The National Sports Commission (NSC) has appointed a six-member caretaker committee to manage the Nigeria Judo Federation (NJF) following the dissolution of its board by the International Judo Federation (IJF).

Acting under Section 16 of the National Sports Commission Act 2023, the committee is tasked with overseeing day-to-day administration and implementing reforms to stabilize the federation. A primary mandate is to amend the NJF constitution to align with IJF requirements. Once the amended constitution is approved at an Annual General Meeting, the committee will organize fresh elections to inaugurate a new board.

The committee is chaired by Sheriff Hammed, with Ngozi Amayo serving as Secretary. Other members include Catherine Ekuta, Sule Musa, Bashir Bassey, and Oladipupo Idowu. The NSC has directed the group to operate with transparency and impartiality to ensure the continued development of judo in Nigeria.
