Nigeria Labour Party chieftain urges Peter Obi to quit race as party hails Abia state's top performance
Labour Party National Vice Chairman (South West) Arabambi Abayomi said Nigerians are losing faith in politicians who make unfulfilled promises. In a statement in Abeokuta, he criticised former Anambra governor and 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi, accusing him of evading questions about his record on education, electricity supply and local government elections during recent TV interviews, and called on Obi to withdraw from the 2027 presidential race.
Separately, Labour Party senatorial candidate for Anambra Central, Tochukwu Ikezue, praised Abia State Governor Alex Otti after the state achieved a high ranking in the Philips Consulting State Performance Index. Ikezue highlighted the state's fiscal discipline, infrastructure renewal and people‑centred governance as a model for the South‑East, urging other states to follow suit.
