Nigeria’s 2027 Election Campaigns Heat Up Across Parties

President Bola Tinubu has repeatedly asserted that he faces no serious challenger in the 2027 presidential race, with Senator Orji Uzor Kalu warning that the opposition is fragmented. The All Progressives Congress (APC) has been urging internal unity, as Senator Olajide Ipinsagba called on members in Ondo State to reconcile after contested primaries, while Oyo State APC announced a reconciliation committee to address grievances from recent primaries.

The Labour Party is seeking to broaden its base, with candidate Dr. Chimaobi Anyaso courting former Abia State lawmaker Chukwudi Apugo to join the party. In Kogi Central, Senator Ahmed Salau Ogembe secured his party’s INEC nomination form and pledged to strengthen the link between leadership and constituents.

In Delta State, a power‑sharing agreement between Ijaw and Itsekiri groups was signed to rotate the new Warri Federal Constituency II seat, a deal praised by the Community Safety Vanguard. Elsewhere, leaders in the Ughievwen Kingdom of Delta endorsed President Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and other APC candidates ahead of the elections.
