Nigeria launches nationwide voter registration drive for 2027 elections

The RiseUpNaija Movement (RUN) has begun a 10‑day, nationwide Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) registration campaign covering 111 locations in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. The initiative aims to register 500,000 new voters, focusing on youths and first‑time voters, and provides support centres in each state to assist with online pre‑registration, biometric capture and voter education.

The campaign aligns with the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) online pre‑registration portal, which requires eligible citizens (18+) to create an account, generate a slip and book an appointment for biometric registration at a designated centre. Successful applicants receive their PVC, enabling them to vote in the 2027 general elections.
