Nigeria Lawmaker James Faleke Told to Focus on Tinubu Re‑Election, Not Kogi Race

A group identifying itself as “Friends of Rt. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke” issued a statement urging the Ikeja Federal Constituency representative to avoid speculation linking him to the 2027 Kogi State governorship race. The group said Faleke should concentrate on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re‑election and on his duties in the National Assembly, where he is regarded as a leading authority on fiscal oversight and public finance.

The statement rejected a recent online report that claimed the presidency had directed former Governor Yahaya Bello and incumbent Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to honour a one‑term arrangement involving Faleke. It described recent awards, ethnic honours and courtesy visits as “orchestrated political activities” designed to draw Faleke back into Kogi politics, and warned that such distractions would disserve the All Progressives Congress and the nation.
