Nigeria leaders to discuss 2027 elections and insecurity at Freedom Online lecture

The seventh annual lecture of Freedom Online is scheduled for September 3 in Lagos, focusing on Nigeria’s economic challenges, insecurity, and the upcoming 2027 general elections.

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu will serve as the special guest speaker. The event will be chaired by former Minister of Information and Culture Lai Mohammed, with former Ogun State Governor Gbenga Daniel attending as the special guest of honour.

Gabriel Akinadewo, Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of Freedom Online, stated that the discussion on insecurity is critical because it has become a “monster, threatening to consume the nation-state called Nigeria.” The lecture aims to address how the conduct of politicians, security agents, and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials will impact the country's future and its more than 200 million citizens.
