Nigeria marks judicial milestones in Ekiti and legal profession
In Ekiti State, Nigeria, Governor Biodun Oyebanji has announced that the state's new High Court Complex under construction will be named after retiring Presiding Justice of the Court of Appeal, Justice Oyebisi Omoleye. The announcement followed a valedictory session celebrating her nearly 48 years of service in the legal profession and judiciary. Justice Omoleye, who began her career at the Ondo State Ministry of Justice, retired upon reaching the mandatory age of 70.
In separate legal developments, Olamide Ehinfun Adekunle has become the youngest woman to achieve the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). Sworn in by Chief Justice Kudirat Kekere Ekun, the 40-year-old lawyer is a partner at Afe Babalola & Co. Her legal expertise spans business disputes, oil and gas, arbitration, and election petitions.
