Nigeria media urged to boost professionalism for football clubs and security reporting

Eche Amos, president of the NPFL Media Directors Forum and media director of Nasarawa United, said effective media operations are essential for the growth of Nigeria Premier Football League clubs. Speaking at a seminar in Enugu ahead of the 2026/27 season, he urged media officers to maintain professional integrity, avoid administrative pressure, and enhance brand value and public perception. He praised the Enugu State Government, league management and sponsor Afrinvest for supporting the workshop.

Eze Anaba, president of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, called on journalists to uphold ethical standards, prioritize fact‑checking and avoid sensationalism to help address Nigeria’s security challenges. Delivering a keynote at a symposium in Abeokuta, he highlighted how responsible, conflict‑sensitive reporting can reduce insecurity, improve public confidence and attract investment. He warned that irresponsible coverage can heighten tensions and cited increasing campus kidnappings and attacks as examples of the need for accurate journalism.
