Nigeria military launches Operation Clean Sweep IV against terrorists

The Joint Task Force North West has launched Operation Clean Sweep IV, a major ground and air offensive aimed at dismantling terrorist and criminal networks across North-West Nigeria. The operation specifically targets the Lakurawa terrorist network and seeks to disrupt logistics near the River Niger axis and Kainji Lake National Park.

In Katsina State, troops conducted clearance operations in the Dutsinma Local Government Area, forcing terrorists to retreat from suspected enclaves. In Zamfara State, precision airstrikes targeted terrorists on motorcycles in the Anka Local Government Area, resulting in multiple casualties and forcing survivors to flee.

Separately, security leaders at the North-West Zonal Conference of State Directors of Security in Katsina emphasized a unified approach to combat terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping. Officials noted that improved synergy between conventional security forces and community-based security initiatives, such as the Community Watch Corps, has led to significant security improvements in the region.
