Nigeria military reports 213% rise in terrorist surrenders

The Nigerian military has reported a 213 per cent increase in the number of terrorists and their associates surrendering in the country’s North-East within a single week.

According to Captain Mohammed Goni, spokesperson for the Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai, the surge is a direct result of intensified ground operations. These efforts have focused on targeting terrorist positions and disrupting logistics and supply routes to restrict the freedom of movement of militant groups.

Recent surrenders include two high-profile members who handed over arms and ammunition to troops. Other surrenders occurred in Bama following sustained military pressure and reported internal disagreements within terrorist enclaves. The military stated that these developments indicate a diminishing capacity for terrorist elements to retain fighters and sustain prolonged operations.
