Nigeria National League sets mandatory registration rules for 2026/27 season

The Nigeria National League (NNL) has issued mandatory registration requirements for the 34 clubs participating in the 2026/27 season. According to NNL Chief Operating Officer Danlami Alanana, all clubs must comply with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Club Licensing Regulations to avoid exclusion from the campaign, which is scheduled to kick off on October 31, 2026.

Key financial conditions include providing evidence that all outstanding salaries, sign-on fees, and allowances for players and coaches have been settled. Clubs with unresolved financial disputes must submit confirmation from the NFF Arbitration Committee to be cleared. Additionally, clubs must settle any previous debts to the NNL, such as fines or registration fees, and provide a mandatory 20 million Naira guarantee to demonstrate commitment to completing the season.

Administrative and infrastructural requirements involve submitting proof of incorporation with the Corporate Affairs Commission, detailing ownership structures, and providing signed contracts for all players and officials. Clubs must also secure home grounds that meet NNL and NFF standards, including functional dressing rooms, medical facilities, and valid insurance coverage. Furthermore, coaches must hold appropriate CAF coaching licenses.
