Nigeria: NDC supporters clash in Enugu amid campaign council disputes

Tensions rose in Enugu on Saturday as supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) reportedly clashed with thugs during a gathering to welcome the party’s governorship candidate. The confrontation led to chaos and raised concerns regarding political violence and the safety of party members during campaign activities.

Separately, the OK Movement has addressed internal friction regarding its presidential campaign council (PCC). Spokesperson Emmanuel Idakwo stated that the PCC was not officially created and was published by individuals without following due process. The OK Movement, which supports the NDC’s 2027 presidential candidate Peter Obi and running mate Rabiu Kwankwaso, clarified that the group maintains a cordial relationship with the NDC leadership and denied that any official leadership within the movement is acting against the party structure.
