Nigeria: Newborn dies after mother allegedly refuses breastfeeding over car dispute
A newborn baby girl has died following an alleged dispute in which her mother refused to breastfeed her until her husband purchased a car as a push gift.
According to a social media account shared by Ossai Ovie Success, the mother demanded a vehicle following a Caesarean section delivery. When the husband stated he could not afford the gift, the mother reportedly refused to feed the infant, even prompting nurses to intervene at the hospital.
The situation reportedly worsened after the family returned home. Following a period where the mother left the residence, the baby became seriously ill and subsequently passed away. Following the death, the husband allegedly had both his wife and her mother arrested after they returned to his home to plead with him.
