Nigeria on track to host 2027 African School Games

Habu Gumel, President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), has confirmed that preparations for Nigeria to host the 2027 African School Games are proceeding as planned.

Speaking in Abuja during the 3rd North Central Regional ‘Catch Them Young’ Gymnastics Festival, Gumel noted that Nigeria’s hosting plans were recently presented to the General Assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA). The presentation took place during the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games in Japan and was well received by the assembly.

The 2nd African School Games are scheduled to take place in Abuja from August 2 to August 11, 2027. The event is expected to host young athletes from across the African continent competing in various sporting disciplines.
