Nigeria: Over 150 terrorists surrender to Operation HADIN KAI

More than 150 terrorists, including 50 commanders and their affiliates, have surrendered to Nigerian troops under Operation HADIN KAI in recent weeks. The Joint Task Force North East attributed this surge to sustained intelligence-led operations and intensified military pressure, which have restricted the movement and logistics of terrorist groups.

In Borno State, a 20-year-old fighter identified as Kurso Muhammed, formerly affiliated with the JAS terrorist group, surrendered to the 21 Special Armoured Brigade at New Abaram Resettlement Village. He is currently in military custody for screening.

The military stated that the increase in voluntary disengagements is a result of a comprehensive counter-insurgency strategy combining kinetic military action with non-kinetic measures, such as strategic communication and civil-military engagement. These efforts aim to weaken hostile narratives and disrupt terrorist support networks.
