Nigeria Pastor David Ibiyeomie condemns proposed bus preaching ban
Pastor David Ibiyeomie, founder of Salvation Ministries, denounced the Federal Road Safety Corps (Amendment) Bill 2026, which seeks to fine up to N50,000 anyone preaching or hawking inside commercial buses. He called the measure a “stupid law” that violates Nigerians’ constitutional right to practice religion, noting that Muslims are already permitted to use loudspeakers in public. Ibiyeomie urged the government to prioritize insecurity, terrorism and poverty rather than restricting gospel preaching, and accused some Christian leaders of staying silent for political or financial reasons. The Senate has passed the amendment and it now awaits presidential assent.
