Nigeria: PDP faction rejects APC claims regarding economic hardship
A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supported by Nyesom Wike has criticized President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) following claims that current economic hardships are the fault of the opposition.
During an APC presidential campaign event in Kaduna, President Tinubu stated his administration is working to eradicate hardship caused by the previous opposition. In response, PDP spokesperson Jungudo Haruna Mohammed rejected these assertions, calling them attempts to evade responsibility and divert attention from the challenges facing the country under the current APC-led administration. The PDP faction demanded concrete government action regarding food security and economic recovery, stating that the party's sixteen years in power should not be used as a justification for the present administration's shortcomings.
Separately, former APC Publicity Secretary Jonathan Vatsa, who recently resigned from the party, criticized the current administration, comparing its governance to military regimes and alleging that the party has become a sanctuary for corruption.
