Nigeria Petroleum Minister Praises NCDMB ICT Centre in Akwa Ibom

Nigeria’s Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. Obongemem Ekperikpe Ekpo, commended the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) for commissioning a state‑of‑the‑art Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Centre at Ika Comprehensive High School in Ikot Akpan Anwa, Akwa Ibom State. The facility includes a 50‑seat computer laboratory with networked desktops, an interactive smart board, projector, server room and Starlink high‑speed internet, as well as a 15 kVA generator and solar power system with battery backup to ensure uninterrupted service.

Ekpo said the centre is “far more than a building equipped with computers; it is an investment in the future of our children and a gateway to knowledge, innovation, creativity and opportunity.” He linked the project to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, noting its role in expanding digital literacy, human‑capital development and inclusive economic growth. NCDMB representatives Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe and Dr. Abdulmalik Halilu highlighted the Board’s commitment to building digital skills for Nigeria’s oil and gas industry and the broader economy.
