Nigeria to deploy 4,000 influencers to showcase Tinubu infrastructure projects
Nigeria’s Minister of Works, David Umahi, has announced plans to mobilize 4,000 social media influencers to promote the infrastructure achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s administration. The initiative aims to communicate government milestones directly to citizens, particularly the youth, to counter negative online narratives ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The announcement followed a nationwide road project inspection by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) across Kano, Jigawa, Kaduna, and Sokoto states. NANS commended the quality and pace of the federal road projects but recommended the construction of pedestrian bridges near university campuses to improve student safety.
Regarding specific projects, Umahi stated that the 105-kilometre pavement section of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway is expected to meet its November 2026 completion deadline, though he raised concerns regarding vandalism of road components. Additionally, the Minister directed that President Tinubu’s images be displayed on the First Niger Bridge to acknowledge his administration’s role in its rehabilitation.
