Nigeria pledges intensified security operations and military welfare support
The Nigerian Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to addressing national insecurity, including banditry, kidnappings, and terror attacks. Speaking at a Nigeria Inter-Religious Council meeting in Abuja, Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume conveyed President Bola Tinubu’s assurance that security agencies will not relent in their efforts to protect citizens and reclaim territory.
To combat these challenges, the government has intensified joint operations involving the armed forces and police, while focusing on enhanced intelligence gathering and rapid response capabilities.
In a related effort to support the security sector, the government has introduced a new welfare initiative. In collaboration with Zinox Group, the Defence Headquarters unveiled a digital discount scheme designed to provide serving personnel, retirees, and their families with easier access to essential goods and services at reduced prices. This initiative aims to sustain military motivation by addressing the financial wellbeing of those serving the nation.
