Nigeria pledges to protect investments in Angola

The Nigerian government has pledged to protect Nigerian-owned investments in Angola and strengthen support for citizens living and doing business there. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, provided these assurances during an inspection of the Cidade De Motores (City of Engines) auto spare-parts market in Luanda, a facility established by Nigerian entrepreneurs.

Odumegwu-Ojukwu described the market as a demonstration of the ‘pioneering spirit of Nigerians’ and stated that the protection of these businesses would be a priority in future bilateral discussions, specifically during the upcoming Nigeria-Angola Joint Commission. She noted that President Bola Tinubu remains committed to the welfare of Nigerians abroad.

The Minister also urged the traders to comply with Angolan laws to maintain Nigeria’s international image and cautioned against ethnic discrimination within the market’s management, emphasizing that the facility must remain inclusive and free from tribalism.
