Nigeria Police AIGs Highlight Discipline and Crime‑Fighting Initiatives

Assistant Inspector‑General Olohundare Jimoh of Lagos received the Most Outstanding Anti‑Crime Police Chief in West and Central Africa award at the African Security Watch Awards in Gambia. He pledged that police will enforce the law impartially, cited the establishment of the Eko Strike Force, intelligence‑led policing and expanded coverage as factors that reduced crime, and noted peaceful local government elections in Lagos.

In a separate address, Assistant Inspector‑General Victor Olaiya of Zone 7 delivered a general lecture emphasizing discipline, professionalism and respect for human rights as foundations of effective policing. He reiterated Inspector‑General Olatunji Disu’s message that “citizens are the boss,” and urged officers to adopt a people‑centred approach to build public trust.
