Nigeria Police Chief Olatunji Disu Calls for Accurate Suspect Data Management

Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu urged investigators and heads of investigative units across Nigeria to prioritize the accurate capture and management of suspects’ information. He made the appeal at the opening of a One‑Day Crime and Incident Database Impact Sensitisation Workshop organised by the police ICT department at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

The workshop highlighted the Suspects’ Information Capturing Process under the Nigeria Police Force Crime and Incident Database (NPF‑ICD) Centre Project, which aims to improve crime analysis, intelligence gathering, evidence‑based investigations, inter‑agency collaboration and proactive crime prevention. Disu stressed that modern policing depends on timely, accurate, actionable data and that the Database Centre can enhance investigative outcomes, track criminal trends, link crimes across jurisdictions and support informed operational and strategic decisions. He called for stricter compliance with the data‑capturing procedures across all commands and formations. Force Public Relations Officer DCP Anthony Placid said participants were encouraged to develop practical solutions to boost operational efficiency and strengthen the police force’s crime‑management architecture.
