Nigeria Police Commissioners Urge Public Support in Crime Fight
Delta State Police Commissioner Yemi Oyeniyi called on residents to assist the police in tackling crime, stressing that security is a collective responsibility and urging people to report information, protect public property and avoid spreading unverified social‑media content. He thanked President Bola Tinubu for backing the force and highlighted the need for community involvement to prevent drug abuse, cultism and other vices.
In the Federal Capital Territory, Police Commissioner Ahmed Sanusi was praised by the Police Community Relations Committee for his intelligence‑led approach that has disrupted organised kidnapping and robbery syndicates in Abuja. Sanusi’s reforms include the creation of a Violent Crime Response Unit, stricter action against police extortion, and increased collaboration with other security agencies and the public to sustain recent security gains.
