Intelligence suggests that suspected Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) operatives and local collaborators are conducting surveillance and reconnaissance on potential targets. The police expressed particular concern regarding educational institutions, noting that attacks could coincide with the resumption of the 2026/2027 academic session.

Specific regions identified as requiring heightened attention include the North-East, North-West, North-Central, and parts of the South-West. Additionally, reports indicate the movement of armed elements traveling from Katsina through Kaduna toward Plateau State.
