Nigeria Police Force receives 50,000 new constables for training

The Police Service Commission (PSC) formally handed over 50,000 newly recruited police constables to the Nigeria Police Force for training at a ceremony in Abuja. The handover was presided over by Commissioner I, representing the PSC Chairman, retired Justice Paul Galumje, who thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support after the president declared a national security emergency on 26 November 2025 and approved the recruitment.

The list of successful candidates was provided on a flash drive, and DIG Isyaku Mohammed, head of the Force Training and Development Department, received the recruits on behalf of the Inspector‑General of Police. The Ministry of Police Affairs director Ibrahim Muhammad described the recruitment process as credible and transparent, while PSC Secretary Onyemuche Nnamani highlighted the teamwork of all stakeholders. Training is set to begin nationwide once the necessary funds are released.
