Nigeria Police Force to disburse N10m welfare bond for families of deceased officers

The Nigeria Police Force has announced plans to implement a N10 million welfare bond for the families of deceased officers. The announcement was made during the 30th anniversary celebration of the Nigeria Police Academy's Cadet ASP Course 19/1996.

DCP John Paul Echeta, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, reported that 51 of the more than 200 members of the 1996 course died while in active service, including three members this year. The committee has proposed the welfare bond to support the families of these fallen officers, with disbursements expected to begin soon.

In addition to the welfare announcement, Echeta raised concerns regarding career stagnation within Course 19. He appealed to Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu to address administrative challenges and consider accelerated promotions for the group before they reach retirement, noting that subsequent courses have received special promotions.
