Ogun State Police Arrest 89 Drivers in Number‑Plate Crackdown

The Ogun State Police Command announced the arrest of 89 motorists who were operating vehicles without proper registration plates or with obscured plates, in line with Inspector‑General Tunji Disu’s nationwide directive. Police Public Relations Officer DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi said, “During the operations, 89 vehicles and their drivers were apprehended for violating the directive,” adding that the move aims to improve vehicle traceability and deny anonymity to criminal elements.

In the same wave of enforcement, officers also captured two armed‑robbery suspects, Abdulsalam Adam and Israel Salako, and recovered a stolen vehicle and two motorcycles. The arrests followed coordinated actions by the Ogere and Ajuwon divisions, local vigilantes and the Ogun State So‑Safe Corps, with evidence such as a knife, cartridge and broken padlock seized. Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni praised the operations as a demonstration of intelligence‑led policing and pledged continued visibility patrols and stop‑and‑search activities across the state.
