Nigeria Police launch nationwide security and election training operations
The Nigeria Police Force has initiated large-scale security operations and training programs aimed at combating crime and preparing for the 2027 General Elections. In collaboration with the Nigeria Police Trust Fund, the force has commenced training 10,000 officers nationwide on election security management, crowd control, and human rights. Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu has directed personnel to maintain strict neutrality, professionalism, and accountability during the electoral process.
Simultaneously, the police have launched nationwide clearance operations to disrupt banditry, kidnapping, and other violent criminal activities. Following the retraining of the Police Mobile Force, tactical personnel are being deployed to criminal hideouts and vulnerable locations. A pilot operation was recently conducted in Nasarawa State to target suspected kidnappers' camps. The Inspector-General emphasized that these intelligence-led deployments must adhere to the rule of law and aim to improve community safety by denying criminal networks freedom of action.
