Nigeria police raids seize 270 weapons, arrest 345 suspects

Nigerian police conducted large‑scale operations in the northern states of Kano and Yobe. In Kano, the state police command announced that a three‑day coordinated clearance across all 44 local government areas resulted in the arrest of 345 suspected criminals, including thugs and drug peddlers, and the seizure of about 270 offensive weapons such as knives, cutlasses and clubs, together with quantities of illicit substances.

In Yobe, police in Damaturu raided criminal hideouts in Moduri Ward, apprehending three suspects aged 19‑22 who were found with four 20‑inch knives, a machete and four heavy sticks. Authorities said investigations are ongoing and that the operations aim to curb youth hooliganism, drug abuse and armed violence.
