Nigeria police seize illegal firearms in Kwara and Oyo arrests
In Kwara State, a joint security operation involving the state police, other agencies and the Kwara State Polytechnic security unit arrested alleged cultist Agboola Olamilekan and recovered a locally fabricated pistol in Ilorin. Police Commissioner Ojo Adekimi said the raid was part of an intelligence‑driven strategy to dismantle criminal networks and curb cult‑related violence, and investigations continue to locate other suspected members.
In Oyo State, the police command intercepted a Bajaj motorcycle on Oshuntokun Avenue, Ibadan, arresting suspect Hammed Lateef and seizing a locally made pistol, a live cartridge, suspected tramadol packets and a passport photograph. Two other occupants fled the scene. Commissioner Johnson Adenola called the stop‑and‑search operation another breakthrough in the fight against illegal firearms and drug trafficking, with further tracking of the fleeing suspects underway.
