Nigeria Police tactical teams clash in Ifon-Osun

Two separate Nigeria Police Force tactical teams engaged in a physical confrontation in Ajegunle, Ifon-Osun, on the night of September 8, 2026. The incident began after a gunshot was reported near the Olufon Palace, prompting the local Divisional Police Officer to investigate.

Upon arrival, the responding officer discovered a heated argument and physical altercation between the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Anti-Robbery Section and a tactical team from Zone XI. Neither group had notified the local Ifon Police Division of their presence in the area.

The Osun State Commissioner of Police subsequently ordered that the involved officers be disarmed and detained pending an investigation. The confrontation caused significant panic among local residents.
