Nigeria Police Trust Fund launches training for 10,000 officers

The Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) has commenced a nationwide training programme for 10,000 police officers to prepare for the 2027 general elections. The initiative, launched at the Nigeria Police Resource Centre in Abuja, aims to equip officers with professional skills in election security management, crowd control, conflict prevention, and de-escalation tactics.

Key officials, including NPTF Executive Secretary Mohammed Sheidu and Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu, emphasized the importance of discipline, impartiality, and inter-agency collaboration. The programme also focuses on human rights and the lawful handling of election-related incidents to ensure a peaceful environment and maintain public trust in the electoral process.
