Nigeria prepares to host 2026 All Africa Challenge Trophy in Abuja

Nigeria is finalizing preparations to host the 2026 All Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT) at the IBB International Golf & Country Club in Abuja. Scheduled for November 2 to 7, the tournament is expected to feature over 30 elite female golfers competing for continental honors.

Organizers are emphasizing the tournament's social impact through the ‘Girls in Golf Legacy Project.’ Led by coordinator Uloma Mbuko Ogbuokiri, the initiative aims to mentor 300 young girls, providing them with opportunities to develop skills in golf while fostering leadership and discipline.

Consultant Munir Tijjani noted that structural and technical planning is progressing smoothly with support from the federal government. This marks the third time Nigeria has hosted the event, following previous championships in Lagos in 1996 and Abuja in 2010. The tournament operates under the slogan, ‘Uniting Africa through the greens.’
