Nigeria President Tinubu Criticised by SDP Candidate Over Security and Political Interference

Social Democratic Party presidential candidate Adewole Adebayo accused President Bola Tinubu of attempting to control opposition parties, claiming the president wants to act as chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission and as a part‑time chief justice. Adebayo also condemned the federal government’s handling of a worsening security crisis, citing recent coordinated bandit attacks on three schools in Oyo State that left teachers and students abducted. He warned that if Tinubu cannot protect Nigerians, he should resign, saying the president has misused security funds and failed to safeguard lives across the country.

Adebayo’s statements were made during a press interview in Ibadan after meeting Governor Seyi Makinde, highlighting the broader national insecurity and alleging political interference by the ruling administration.
