Nigeria Prize for Creative Arts Announces First Inaugural Documentary Nominees
The Nigeria Prize for Creative Arts (NPCA), a new US$20,000 award sponsored by Nigeria LNG (NLNG), has revealed its first‑ever shortlist of eleven documentary entries. The prize, open to Nigerian creators aged 18 to 35, invited submissions that interpret the theme “Identity.” A total of 98 documentaries were received, reflecting a strong pool of emerging talent.
Professor Akachi Adimora‑Ezeigbo, chair of the NPCA advisory board, said the breadth and quality of the entries demonstrate young filmmakers’ confidence in telling Nigeria’s stories. The shortlisted works will move to the next adjudication stage, with the winning documentary to be announced at NLNG’s Grand Award Night in October 2026, becoming the inaugural NPCA winner.
