Nigeria probes ex-Petroleum minister allies and chief of staff over alleged coup and corruption claims

The Department of State Services (DSS) arraigned five associates of former petroleum minister Timipre Sylva in Abuja, accusing them of hiding Sylva's whereabouts after he was named a financier of a failed coup attempt against President Bola Tinubu. The defendants were granted bail of N5 million each while their trial is set for July 22.

Separately, the Centre for Transparency and Accountability in Governance (CTAG) has called on the DSS, police and anti‑corruption agencies to investigate Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi’s accusations against President Tinubu’s chief of staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, and to verify Adeyemi’s claim of heading a non‑existent Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council. CTAG seeks evidence of alleged bribes and a purported N24 billion grant, urging a thorough probe into the allegations.
