Nigeria probes forged documents of fake Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council

A House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating the alleged Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) uncovered at least 29 forged official documents tied to the bogus agency and its self‑appointed Director‑General, Adeniyi Adeyemi Mathew. The documents were purportedly issued by the State House, the Office of the Head of the Civil Service, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and the Ministry of Finance, with some bearing a forged signature of President’s Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila.

The committee has summoned 13 civil servants and ordered the Inspector‑General of Police, Olatunji Disu, to produce Adeyemi, who has been in police custody since his July 15 arrest in Osun State following a bench warrant. An eight‑count charge has already been filed against him at the Federal High Court. The scandal, described as a "ghost" PFIPC, has drawn calls for further testimony and transparency, while the Presidency has remained silent amid reports of a parallel ICPC probe.
