Nigeria pursues job opportunities and gas cooperation with Qatar

Nigeria’s Ambassador to Qatar, Mahmood Yakubu, met with Qatari Minister of Labour Ali bin Saeed bin Samikh Al Marri in Doha to discuss expanding employment prospects for Nigerian citizens in Qatar.

Yakubu also hosted a delegation from the Gas Exporting Countries Forum led by Secretary‑General Dr Philip Mshelbila, focusing on deeper collaboration in the global gas sector. Nigeria’s Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, currently chairs the GECF ministerial meetings, underscoring Nigeria’s growing role in energy diplomacy. The initiative aligns with Nigeria’s “4D” foreign‑policy doctrine, which emphasizes diaspora engagement, development and strategic partnerships.
